Self Injury

Self-Injury Help

Do you intentionally cut, burn or otherwise injure yourself?
Do you want to replace it with something healthier and with fewer consequences?

Self-Injury (SI) is also known as Cutting, Self-Harm (SH), Self-Mutilation (SM), Self-Inflicted Violence (SIV), Self-Injurious Behaviour (SIB), and Parasuicide.

Why do people self-injure? People self-injure for a wide variety of reasons. It is most important is for us to understand all the reasons that YOU harm yourself rather than focusing on why others may self-injure. This understanding will lead to the treatment plan that will be most helpful for you.

Treatment begins with a thorough psychological assessment during which I’ll ask you:

  • How do you physically injure yourself
  • When & how frequently
  • Where
  • Why might you be doing it (it’s okay if you don’t know, we can explore this together)
  • Much more …
